The mosque miraculously survived: the inhabitants of the Kurgan village spoke about the consequences of the fire

“In the place of most houses there are ashes”

According to the latest data, the number of deaths as a result of fires raging in the Kurgan region has reached 21 people, another 13 were badly injured. The most powerful fire raged in the village of Yuldus, Shadrinsk district, where 336 houses burned down and at least six local residents died. “MK” found out how the burnt village lives now.

Recall that the fire broke out on May 7. The fire spread from a neighboring village, which was also on fire. Because of the strong wind, it spread at a rapid speed, for the same reason, firefighters’ helicopters could not reach the place for a long time. The result – out of more than 400 houses survived, according to the latest information, 92.

According to Alena Kovrigina, deputy head of the Tatars of the Trans-Urals organization, which collects assistance to the victims, now the once rich village looks like after the war.

— This is the oldest and one of the largest Tatar villages in the Trans-Urals, — she said. — About a thousand people lived here. All houses are solid log cabins. Were. And now, in the place of most of them, there is an ashes, over which chimneys rise, sometimes gates.

The mosque, school, local house of culture survived. The mosque became the first refuge and protection for the inhabitants of the burning village.

— It was built thanks to a local resident Akhmadulla Khabibulin, — Alena Kovrigina continues. — Fortunately, he himself escaped, but his house, warehouses, and other buildings were completely burned down.

No one can say exactly how many people died and were seriously injured.

— I know that one person is in the hospital with serious burns, one is missing, six have died, — Kovrigina said. — Tomorrow we will go to Uldus again, I think, then we will find out how many people died, their gender and age.

A resident of the village of Fanis Gaynutdinov, whom MK managed to contact, heard about eight dead, but he does not yet know who exactly.

Now he, like many other residents of Uldus, temporarily huddles in a club – a two-story capital building. Others live in the school. Some were sheltered by friends and relatives from the regional center, Shadrinsk, and also from neighboring villages.

According to another local resident, Samira Fatkullina, humanitarian aid was organized rather quickly, and now there is enough of everything needed. However, there is no electricity, and therefore there is practically no communication.

— We brought car chargers, but so far it is not enough, in time we will bring everything you need, — Kovigin assures. — We started fundraising. Many are ready to help, but so far there are certain difficulties with this. I spoke with the leadership of the district administration about opening a bank account to help the victims, but since it is the weekend, this is not yet possible. I hope that tomorrow it will be possible.
