The Moscow City Court approved the extension of house arrest for blogger Elena Blinovskaya in the case of tax evasion in the amount of 918 million rubles until January 26, 2024.
“The resolution of the Zamoskvoretsky District Court of Moscow dated October 24, 2023 in relation to Blinovskaya was left unchanged, the appeal was not satisfied,” said a source in the appellate court.
The lawyers emphasized in their complaint that tax inspectors are checking Blinovskaya for all taxes, fees and insurance premiums for 2022. The defense also noted that in order to provide answers to the requirements of the Federal Tax Service of Russia No. 6 for Moscow, Blinovskaya requires online access to banks, and court bans on the use of the Internet prevent her from interacting with the tax authority.
In this regard, the lawyers insisted on overturning the district court’s decision and proposed limiting the defendant’s punishment to a ban on certain actions.
