Dmitry Koldun almost became related to Anita Tsoi

“I work as Santa Claus”

There is less and less time left until the New Year, and this is usually the busiest time for artists. They either have a concert, or filming, or a New Year’s party. Singer Dmitry Koldun is no exception. There is no free minute in his schedule. Nevertheless, the artist does not forget about the upcoming holiday, since at least his son and daughter are waiting for him. He told MK about what the New Year’s time was like for Dmitry Koldun in an exclusive conversation.

— There are almost two weeks left until the New Year. How are you preparing for this holiday?

— I already found the Santa Claus costume. As always, this year I’m organizing a costume performance for my children. I play Santa Claus. Every year it gets more and more difficult, of course, but that makes it more fun. After all, children already somewhere understand that this may not be the real Santa Claus. (Smiles.) But this doesn’t make our holiday any less interesting, so I work as Santa Claus on a regular basis.

— In general, what New Year’s Eve was the most memorable for you?

– This is when I managed to celebrate the New Year twice. I was in some Siberian region, and there was just a time zone where the New Year had already arrived. So I met him in the same time zone, and then flew over – and ended up back in the old year. Our country is large, we can celebrate the holiday several times, which I took advantage of. On a fighter jet you can generally celebrate New Year’s Eve 8 times.

— What are your plans for this New Year’s Eve?

— Most likely, I will spend the holidays with my family. We will set a large family table, eat delicious Olivier and, of course, our traditional family meat pie, which my grandmother used to cook. And now his wife is preparing it. The main thing is that there is more meat in the filling.

— Usually, before the New Year, artists have a particularly busy time. How is it going for you?

— This year the New Year’s period is doubly busy for me. I’m preparing for a big solo concert, which will take place on December 17 in Moscow at the Vegas city hall. I take this opportunity to invite everyone! There will be favorite and completely new songs. All my strength is focused on this. And, of course, there are a lot of different kinds of New Year’s filming on the channels. There’s almost not enough time, but you need to get everything done.

I like all this fuss, because performances before the New Year are distinguished by a special mood that the audience and artists already have. Magic, magic, a premonition of a miracle and something new. This is a holiday that unites us all, regardless of date of birth, place of residence, habits and lifestyle, beliefs. New Year is for everyone!

— When an artist performs a duet with a colleague, you always want to know why. How did your joint song with Anita Tsoi, which you recently presented to fans, come about?

— Yes, Anita Tsoi and I released a duet for the New Year’s song “Goodbye.” Unexpectedly, you say… And everything unexpected turns out well. Initially, we planned and recorded this song for one of the New Year’s lights. But then this idea somehow grew and scaled up to a full-fledged big release. We will also sing it on Sunday at my solo concert. By the way, our performance will be filmed at the concert, so the audience has the opportunity to become its heroes.

— You once said that you almost became relatives with Anita Tsoi. Really intrigued…

“Indeed, Anita and I have a long, almost family history. My mother and Anita’s uncle were in a relationship for a very long time. So, one might say, we almost became officially related.
