The Ministry of Justice included the “Anti-War Committee of Russia” in scroll undesirable organizations whose activities are prohibited in the country. State Duma Deputy Andrei Lugovoi reported on the recognition of the organization as undesirable by the Prosecutor General’s Office on January 22. The committee was included in the list of the Ministry of Justice on January 31.
The list also includes Russie-Libertes (France) and La Asociacion de Rusos Libres (Spain). Both organizations call their goal to unite Russians living abroad who oppose the conduct of hostilities in Ukraine. The Prosecutor General’s Office declared them undesirable on January 11. Andrei Lugovoy reported that the department checked the activities of organizations at his request.
The “Russian Anti-War Committee” was created a few days after the start of the Russian military operation in Ukraine in February 2022. The initiators of the project are Garry Kasparov and Mikhail Khodorkovsky (both declared foreign agents). Among the members of the organization opposing the fighting in Ukraine are economists Sergei Aleksashenko and Sergei Guriev, oppositionists Leonid Gozman, Vladimir Kara-Murza, Dmitry Gudkov (all of them are declared foreign agents).
