In Rybinsk, buyers staged a stampede due to a promotion on sugar
In Rybinsk, Yaroslavl region, there was a rush demand for sugar. Because of the promotion on the sweet product, buyers created a real stampede. A video filmed by eyewitnesses appeared on social networks, showing people fighting and storming store shelves.
It turned out that sugar was sold in one supermarket for 57 rubles per kilogram, and in another for 38. Townspeople came three times a day and took 10 kg at a time, since more was simply not allowed.
Off-screen commentators were shocked that people “went crazy over some sugar” and broke each other’s ribs in a meat grinder. One pallet sold out in an hour.
The mayor’s office of Rybinsk said that there are no problems with sugar, and the situation in the store is a special case.
