The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation said that the number of departmental units was affected by the participation of employees in the military operation of the Russian Federation in Ukraine. The Ministry of Internal Affairs issued a statement in response to publications about an increase in the staffing of special regiments and Grom.
“The issue of recruiting and strengthening certain units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia is dictated by the operational situation associated with the conduct of a special military operation, in which employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation are directly involved,” the press center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs indicated (quote – “MVD Media”).
On the eve, April 12, State Duma deputy Alexander Khinshtein declaredthat a structure is being created in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia that almost completely duplicates the functions of the National Guard. The parliamentarian called the agency’s actions “extremely dangerous.”
Prior to that, in March, Mr. Khinshtein declaredthat the Ministry of Internal Affairs is actively developing its own, alternative to the Russian Guard, special forces (it was then about the Thunder unit). “If the Ministry of Internal Affairs wants to return the special forces back to their fold, this should be declared openly, and not create the Russian Guard 2:0 on the sly,” wrote Mr. Khinshtein.
