Hospital School “UchimKnaem” celebrated its birthday

Yesterday the hospital school “UchimKnow”, which works in the children’s department of the Center for Transplantation and Artificial Organs named after Academician V. I. Shumakov, celebrated the year since its opening.

Since her birthday coincided with another holiday – Cosmonautics Day, it was decided to celebrate both events brightly and festively. As Deputy Minister of Education of the Russian Federation Tatyana Vasilyeva said, a year is not a very big anniversary.

“But the fact that for a whole year the guys could not fall out of the educational process is very important,” Tatyana Vasilyeva specified. – Today there are not so many of us sitting in the hall, but this year 400 children have already studied at the school! And all this is thanks to teachers, mentors, teachers of additional education and doctors who find time and arrange a schedule among the treatment procedures so that children have the opportunity to receive new positive emotions.

Indeed, a year ago, the leadership of Moscow school No. 109, which participates in the project “Hospital Schools “Teach Know”, together with representatives of the Center for Transplantology and Artificial Organs, opened a school for children who have been on treatment for a long time. This was done so that children and teenagers would not miss lessons, but could gain knowledge. And, most importantly, hope for a happy future, which is a powerful incentive for recovery. By the way, already last year the patients of the centers passed exams and successfully wrote qualifying papers.

Congratulating the educational institution on the first anniversary, the director of the Center. ak. V. I. Shumakova Sergei Gauthier remembered what he was like – the first day of a manned flight into space.

– It was April 12, 1961, the same warm and sunny day. I was at school, just like today. The head teacher entered the office and said that the greatest event in the history of mankind had happened today: Yuri Gagarin flew into space. And I was walking home from school, here nearby, and I thought about how much more “impossible” a person can do, – said Sergey Gauthier. – Now space travel does not surprise anyone, in our center and throughout Russia, some kind of space operations by the standards of those times have become possible. For the new generation that is growing up, I really want to create such conditions in which they would understand that dreams and goals should become closer, strive for progress. I think that just in collaboration with the school, with teachers and teachers of additional education, we succeed.

At the end of the holiday, Alexander Misurkin, a Russian test cosmonaut of the Yu. A. Gagarin Scientific Research Institute of TsPK, contacted children and adults. He drew a parallel of hospital school with a spaceship, where courage and fortitude are needed to cope with the disease and continue to conquer the heights of knowledge.
