The Ministry of Health has registered the Russian drug Fluorothiazinone for the treatment of bacterial infections caused by antibiotic-resistant bacteria. “Fluorothiazinone” was developed by scientists at the N. F. Gamaleya Center.
“The Russian Ministry of Health has registered, in accordance with the requirements of the EAEU, an original antibacterial drug with a full cycle of production in the Russian Federation, Fluorothiazinone, in the form of tablets. The unique development of Russian scientists is intended for the treatment of bacterial infections caused by antibiotic-resistant microorganisms,” reported press service ministries.
The drug has undergone tests that have confirmed its safety and high effectiveness. Fluorothiazinone is a broad-spectrum drug that is effective against antibiotic-resistant bacteria, such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, and Klebsiella pneumoniae.
Freelance urologist of the Ministry of Health Dmitry Pushkar explained that the antimicrobial drug Fluorothiazinone can be used in association with antibiotics, as well as independently. Its action leads to the weakening of those microorganisms that caused the infectious-inflammatory disease.
As reported by the Ministry of Health, Fluorothiazinone has no analogues in the world among antibacterial drugs in terms of its mechanism of action. The drug suppresses the virulence of bacteria and inhibits the release of bacterial toxins, blocking the mobility of bacteria and suppressing the formation of biofilms.
Since the 2000s, the World Health Organization (WHO) has identified antibiotic resistance as one of the greatest threats to animal and human health. Some studies suggest accidental transmission of antibiotic-resistant microorganisms from animals to humans.
