The Ministry of Energy criticized the idea of priority of Russian goods on marketplaces

The Russian Ministry of Economic Development considers the proposal for priority placement of goods of domestic origin on marketplaces to be unrealizable, as follows from the ministry’s response to the bill on the “Russian shelf.” The department sent a review to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, as indicated in the document. The bill on the Russian shelf, i.e. on the priority placement of Russian non-food products, has been discussed at least since the spring of 2023. As Izvestia wrote in May, it was developed by “State Duma deputies with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade” – and at that time its effect extended only to offline retailers. In October 2023, the newspaper reported on a new version of the bill, in which the same requirements were extended to online platforms, obliging them to place in search results first 50 cards with goods of Russian origin, and after that all the rest.
