The Ministry of Education and Science “in practical terms” does not consider the issue of holding flag-raising ceremonies and singing the anthem in higher educational institutions, said Deputy Minister Konstantin Mogilevsky. He explained this by the lack of regular start times at universities. From September 1, 2022, the flag-raising ceremony and the singing of the national anthem will be held in all Russian schools at the beginning of each week.
“The start time of classes, as a rule, varies depending on the faculty and course, often university buildings are located in different parts of the city. Therefore, in practical terms, we do not consider the issue of establishing such a ceremony,” said Mr. Mogilevsky TASS.
Minister of Education Sergei Kravtsov in February toldthat his ministry plans to extend the holding of a ceremony with a flag and an anthem to subordinate pedagogical universities. According to a survey by the Synergy University Analytical Center, more than 63% of Russians support holding such ceremonies in universities.
