The head of administration of Vorkuta (Komi Republic) Yaroslav Shaposhnikov announced today his intention to travel to Ukraine to participate in a special military operation. He announced this at a rally in support of the SVO, which took place today in the city.
“The time has come to directly support our guys and take part in a special military operation as a serviceman,” the mayor said. According to him, five of his colleagues in the municipal service will go with him from Vorkuta to the war zone.
“The decision was made consciously. The head of Komi, Vladimir Uiba, supported me. Victory will be ours!” added Mr. Shaposhnikov.
The official wants to serve in the Armed Forces on a contract basis. Whether he will write an application for early resignation of the head of the administration or take a vacation is not yet known.
