Couples reveal how sleeping in separate bedrooms helped them keep their relationship together

Co-sleeping is not a requirement for a relationship, couples interviewed by R29 said.

Among the reasons why they prefer to sleep in different beds or even separate rooms, couples, in the first place, named the desire to maintain personal space. Ruth and Edward, 27, said that after they met, they maintained a relationship, being on different continents, and found no reason to sleep next to each other, even when they had the opportunity.

Another couple, Amy and Benji, said that sleeping apart helped them sleep better. This, in turn, allows them to keep the relationship vibrant, the couple said.
