The mayor of Novokuznetsk, Sergei Kuznetsov, ordered to find a place for a monument to Joseph Stalin. He announced this live on the program “Morning with the Mayor.” Sergei Kuznetsov invited the townspeople to “think together” and choose a place for the monument.

“I gave instructions to my city planners and district leaders to think about where it would be possible to put up some kind of exhibition. Stalin causes a lot of controversy, there are people whom he offended, there are people whom he destroyed, but in general, thanks to him, a lot was done,” said Sergei Kuznetsov (his words are quoted by the local publication A24.ru). The mayor believes that the monument should be erected “so as not to offend anyone.”

From 1932 to 1961 Novokuznetsk was called Stalinsk. The Kuznetsk metallurgical plant in the city also bore the name of I.V. Stalin.

At the end of December 2023, the branch of the Communists of Russia party in the Altai Territory commemorated the 145th anniversary of the birth of Joseph Stalin in Barnaul was opened “Stalin Center”. The center of the exhibition was a monument to Joseph Stalin from the 1930s. The head of the local communist branch, Sergei Matasov, noted that “Stalin lives in each of us.” In autumn, a bust of Joseph Stalin is solemnly opened in the city of Orlov, Kirov region.
