Andrey Sharkov, managing partner of the Shagi law firm, told the Prime agency that from March 2, a short-term compulsory motor liability insurance policy will be available, which can be issued for a period from one day to three months.

This type of insurance will be useful for those who do not plan to use the car for a long time, for example, when reselling it, using it at exhibitions or festivals, renting it for a short period or for trips to the country in the summer.

According to the new rules, the start of validity of short-term policies will be delayed, like electronic policies, and will begin no earlier than three days after issue. This is done to prevent fraud associated with issuing an MTPL policy immediately after an accident. The price of such a policy should not exceed the price of annual insurance, the lawyer explained.
