The hydrometeorological center warned about the return of frost to Moscow by the old New Year

In Moscow, from January 9, warming is expected to -9°C, and on January 11 – to -1°C. However, by the old New Year, frosts will return to the capital again, scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center Roman Vilfand told RIA Novosti. According to Mr. Vilfand, the increase in temperature is associated with the arrival of a cyclone.

During the New Year holidays, the temperature in Moscow dropped to –25°C. Tomorrow, January 9, according to the forecast Hydrometeorological Centerin the capital warming is expected to -9°C…-7°C, and on January 10 – -8°C…-6°C.

“There is nothing mystical about weather changes – it’s normal. A well-defined cyclone will pass through Moscow from the Atlantic, and on the eastern periphery of this cyclone the air masses will be warm, so tomorrow the temperature will be, if not warm, then “normal” – below normal, but not like during the holidays,” said Mr. Vilfand.

At the same time, the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center indicated that it will start to get colder in Moscow again from January 12. “On January 12, the frost intensifies again; in the rear part of the cyclone, the invasion of cold air masses begins, associated with a significant drop in temperature. -15°C is expected during the day, and by the New Year the temperature will again be below -20°C, very frosty weather,” he added.

Last week, due to abnormally low temperatures, the heating supply to residential buildings in populated areas of the Moscow region was disrupted. In particular, 150 thousand residents of Podolsk were left without heat. The Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the region opened a criminal case under Part 1 of Art. 238 of the Criminal Code (provision of services that do not meet safety requirements).
