The Russian Ministry of Sports, together with State Duma deputies, plan to limit the possibility of Russian hockey players going abroad. This was announced by the head of the department Oleg Matytsin. Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke about the need for a legal framework to regulate this issue.
“We will work on regulations together with the State Duma to see how we can protect the interests of Russian hockey, athletes, coaches, sports schools, in order to limit the departure of talented athletes,” Mr. Matytsin said at the forum “Russia is a sports power” ( quote from “RIA News”).
Mr. Matytsin added that at the same time, conditions need to be created in Russia that would allow athletes to realize their talents equally. “In addition, we need financial support to play in the Russian league,” the minister added.
