Ministry of Sports: good Russian athletes will soon be banned from traveling abroad

Sports Minister Oleg Matytsin said that the Ministry of Sports, together with the State Duma, will develop restrictions on traveling abroad for talented Russian athletes. How reports RBC, the official stated this at the “Russia is a Sports Power” forum in Perm.
According to the minister, work is underway “to strengthen our system” and protect the interests of domestic sports.
“Let’s see how we can protect the interests of Russian hockey <...> To limit the departure of talented athletes,” Matytsin said.
On Thursday, October 19, Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Sports Council demanded to deal with the “hockey businessmen” who are “dragging abroad” talented Russian hockey players.
In early October, RIA Novosti, citing several sources, reported that athletes, coaches and staff of state sports schools in St. Petersburg restricted travel outside Russian Federation, including on vacation.
