The head of the Krasnodar Territory, Veniamin Kondratyev, instructed the Sochi City Hall to check the information about the absence of festive decorations on the streets of the Krasnaya Polyana resort on Victory Day, Kommersant was told in the press service of the regional administration.

About resort guest complaints in the past told State Duma deputy Alexander Khinshtein, who sent appeals on this matter to the Prosecutor General’s Office and the regional administration. He, citing eyewitness accounts, argued that the resort abandoned holiday symbols because of “political neutrality.”

The press service of the regional administration emphasized that Veniamin Kondratiev is aware of Alexander Khinshtein’s appeal. “Victory Day is a sacred holiday for all residents of Russia, and it must be celebrated everywhere,” the press service quoted the governor as saying.

Veniamin Kondratiev instructed the Sochi Mayor’s Office to investigate in detail the individual cases on Victory Day, which were told by the guests of Krasnaya Polyana hotels. Guests of the resort reported that on the streets of the resort on May 9 there were no flags, banners and St. George ribbons, no music was playing.

The press service of the Krasnaya Polyana resort told Kommersant that the resort annually celebrates Victory Day, this year the resort employees laid flowers at the memorials of the Great Patriotic War and congratulated the veterans. A screening of the film “Only old men go to battle” was organized for the guests of the resort.
