The FSR praised the Ukrainian chess player who shook hands with the Russian

Vice-President of the Russian Chess Federation (RFC) Sergei Smagin in conversation with “Gazeta.Ru” commented on the handshake between Ukrainian grandmaster Yuri Kuzubov and Russian Vladislav Artemyev before and after their match in the 7th round of the Grand Swiss, calling it a normal phenomenon.
Smagin noted that a normal person can have an extremely positive attitude towards this. According to him, all these “stupid prohibitions” are made up of nothing, and he is sure that all athletes, including Ukrainian ones, are primarily focused on human qualities. At the same time, the vice-president of the FSR indicated that if they are asked to do some kind of formality “with a knife at their throats,” they will do it.
He added that he does not understand all these prohibitions and expressed hope that in the future both Ukrainian and Russian athletes will not engage in “such nonsense” as refusing to shake hands.
