It is important for those who visit the forest to know that usually the largest number of ticks is concentrated on the edges, said Vadim Maryinsky, a researcher at the Department of General Ecology and Hydrobiology of the Faculty of Biology of Moscow State University.
In an interview with the Moscow 24 channel, he noted that most often ticks sit in the grass, but they can also be located on a tree.
The expert pointed out that usually ticks crawl on a person from the ground or cling to the body from grass and branches. In view of the foregoing, before going to nature, you need to treat the lower part of the body with repellent, put on light-colored pants and tuck them into socks.
He also recalled that when exposed to rain, a person loses the protection of the repellent.
Seasonal activation of ticks began in April. Experts warn that ticks bite Russians most actively in Siberia, the Urals and the Far East, and therefore residents of these regions need to be vaccinated against tick-borne encephalitis. In the European part of Russia, tick bites are less common.
