Chief freelance cardiologist of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation for the Central, Ural, Siberian and Far Eastern Federal Districts, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Sergey Boytsov told reporters about the risks of developing cardiovascular pathologies in patients against the background of the coronavirus.
The specialist recalled that infectious diseases provoke inflammation in the vessels.
“Strokes, heart attacks or heart disease associated with inflammation, myocarditis or cardiac arrhythmias are largely due to infections … especially penetrating through the lungs, as in the case of coronavirus,” Boitsov said.
