Labor market expert Sanina: the cost of a working day in February and March will be higher

In February and March, the cost of one working day will be higher due to the long weekend associated with Defender of the Fatherland Day and International Women’s Day. About this TV channel RT said the director of personnel and organizational development of one of the job search services, Yulia Sanina.

Wages during these months will not decrease and will be fixed, which will affect the cost of one working day – it will become higher than usual. Sanina warned that due to the holidays, the payment schedule may change, as bank transfers and other transactions will take longer due to the holidays.

As for the leap year, according to the hiring expert, it will not affect the calculations of those who receive a salary. According to her, in this case, the employee is paid a fixed amount for the calendar month worked, but on the condition that he was not on vacation or time off.

Sanina added that due to the large number of weekends, February and March are not profitable for vacations, since they only have 20 working days. In this regard, the specialist explained, the total income of an employee who took a vacation at the end of winter or early spring would be lower if he had worked a full month.

Sanina also noted that an employee may receive additional payments for working on holidays. In particular, the first two hours of overtime are paid at no less than one and a half times the rate, then – at least at double the rate.

“An employee may also ask to replace such payment with an additional day off,” the expert noted.

The exception is for employees working on a shift schedule. Such employees are not provided for payment at an increased rate.

Previously, MK reported that in total in 2024 Russians expect 118 days off and holidaysincluding standard Saturday and Sunday.
