The European Court of Justice ruled to cancel personal sanctions against Russian businessmen Mikhail Fridman and Pyotr Aven.
The ruling in both cases states that the EU Council must pay the parties’ legal costs. The claims of Russian entrepreneurs against the EU Council were considered in the court of first instance. For now, they can still be challenged.
According to the applicants, there is no substantial evidence to support the inclusion of businessmen in the sanctions lists. Also, the side of Aven and Fridman considered the measures taken against them to be excessive.
