The editor-in-chief of The New Times Evgenia Albats said that she would teach in New York at one of the universities. She explained that she left Russia for fear of arrest.
“I had four administrative offices, I was declared a foreign agent, and it became clear that I had about three to four weeks before my arrest. And actually, I also consulted with Alexei Navalny, Alyosha told me: “Zhen, don’t play the fool, you need to leave, no one needs you to be imprisoned,” the journalist said on air on her YouTube channel.
In July, the Simonovsky Court of Moscow fined New Times LLC (founder of The New Times magazine) and Yevgeny Albats for 670 thousand rubles. They were found guilty of disseminating fake information (part 9 of article 13.15 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). The reason was publications about the Russian military operation in Ukraine. In the same month, the Ministry of Justice introduced Ms. Albats to the register of media-foreign agents.
