Deputy from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Mikhail Matveev submitted to the State Duma bill, proposing to ban the issuance of a license for weapons within 10 years after obtaining citizenship of the Russian Federation. In addition, the deputy proposes to ban the issuance of weapons to persons who do not have information about military registration at their place of residence.
Changes are proposed to be made to Article 13 of the Law “On Weapons”. The document says that aerosols with tear substances, stun guns and pneumatic weapons must be issued within 5 years from the date of obtaining citizenship.
Mikhail Matveev notes that migrants often apply for weapons permits immediately after obtaining citizenship, without registering for military service. In addition, he pointed out that after the start of the special operation, the fight against violations in the field of arms trafficking is of “exceptional public importance.”
