The State Duma Committee on Labor did not support the proposal to shorten the working day in the heat
At a meeting, the State Duma Committee on Labor rejected in the first reading a bill to shorten the working day in hot weather.
The measure was not recommended for adoption due to the fact that existing legislation already stipulates the employer’s obligations to ensure safety and working conditions in accordance with state regulatory labor protection requirements, she reported.
The government and the Ministry of Labor did not support the corresponding initiative, stated Victoria Rodina, a member of the labor committee.
The bill was introduced by the Deputy Speaker of the State Duma from the LDPR, Boris Chernyshov. The bill proposed to give the employee the right to reduce his working day, shift at an air temperature of 28.5 degrees Celsius – by 1 hour; from 28.6 °C to 29 °C – for 2 hours; from 29.1 °C and above – for 4 hours.
