The Duma called the idea of limiting the issuance of maternity capital to the age of Russian women nonsense

The idea of an age limit for the issuance of maternity capital is not only redundant, but also short-sighted. This statement was made by Svetlana Bessarab, a member of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs, as quoted by Lenta.ru.
The day before, several parliamentarians appealed to the Cabinet of Ministers with an initiative to issue maternity capital for their first child only to those who gave birth before the age of 25-30. It was assumed that this measure would begin to stimulate the birth rate.
According to Bessarab, it is impossible to set any restrictions on maternity capital, since a woman becomes a mother when she is ready for it. “…Forcing her to give birth before the age of 25 is a utopia, taking into account the development of technology, taking into account the need to ensure her own career… this is just nonsense, stupidity,” the deputy said.
The politician also emphasized that she would categorically oppose this project and another proposal regarding the need to oblige Russian women to give birth.
