Therapist Kamila Isaeva, in a conversation with Moslenta, gave advice on ways to ensure healthy sleep for preschoolers.
According to her, at this age, you should not miss the opportunity for daytime sleep, otherwise the child will overwork by the evening. She noted that childhood hyperactivity is just one of the consequences of a lack of sleep in a child.
Isaeva also said that it is necessary to regularly ventilate the child’s bedroom for 30 minutes and recommended keeping the temperature at 18-20 degrees, and if the air is dry, it is better to use a humidifier. An alternative to a humidifier will be a plate of water placed on a heating battery.
The expert also recommended not using a night light in the children’s room, as the baby should sleep in complete darkness so as not to disturb the daily rhythms. In this case, during the day, sleep in natural light is allowed. Isaeva also noted that silence is not a fundamental condition – on the contrary, the child calms down more easily and falls asleep when he hears familiar sounds.
She also gave advice on choosing a crib. According to her, it should fit the size of the baby, not have a frame, and the mattress should be hard enough. Isaeva also advised not to get carried away with soft toys in the child’s bed, and if possible, put on pajamas or use a sleeping bag. The doctor also noted that in infancy it is important to put the child to sleep on his back.
