The Investigative Committee of Russia has completed the investigation of the criminal case of discrediting the army against the chairman of the board of the Memorial society (recognized as a foreign agent and liquidated) Oleg Orlov. This is stated on the website of the organization.
Oleg Orlov was given the text of the indictment under the article on the repeated discrediting of the Russian army (part 1 of article 280.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The case will be transferred to the Koptevsky District Court of Moscow.
On the initiation of a criminal case against Oleg Orlov became known 21 March. The case was opened because of a repost on Facebook (owned by Meta, which is recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation and banned) of his own article “They wanted fascism. They got it.”
On the same day searches passed in the offices of “Memorial” – they were connected with the case of the rehabilitation of Nazism. Searches were also carried out by the chairman of the board of the organization Yan Rachinsky, the deputy chairman of the center Nikita Petrov, the mother of the representative of the capital “Memorial” Alexandra Polivanova, Irina Ostrovskaya, Galina Iordanskaya and Alena Kozlova.
The investigation found in the lists of victims of political terror a man from “Memorial”, sentenced to camps for working in a German police detachment, and two more military men sentenced “for treason.”
