Long-term severe stress is the trigger for 80% of all diseases, including diseases of the cardiovascular system and gastrointestinal tract, diabetes and others, recalled “Izvestia” Deputy Chief Physician of INVITRO-Privolzhye Tatyana Taradeeva.
The negative impact of stress, the expert explains, develops due to strong stress factors that exceed the adaptive capabilities of the body. This is distress, which is the trigger for 80% of all diseases.
As Taradeeva explains, stress leads to the release of specific hormones into the blood, in particular cortisol. Under its action, the synthesis of insulin, sex hormones decreases, the level of glucose and cholesterol increases. As a result, the cardiovascular system, gastrointestinal system, reproductive system, immune system, and nervous system suffer. Such stress can be deadly, causing cardiovascular catastrophes – strokes and heart attacks.
In addition to them, stress can cause the development of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract: from gastritis and ulcers to exacerbation of existing cholecystitis, pancreatitis, and duodenal ulcer. Prolonged stress can also lead to the development of diabetes.
With all the evidence of stress and its consequences, the doctor recommended dealing with them, especially when it comes to the use of drugs, strictly under the supervision of medical specialists.
