“First of all, an allergist must accurately diagnose what a person is allergic to, for this it is necessary to pass allergy tests,” says Sofia Melnik, head of the otorhinolaryngology department at the Open Clinic, Candidate of Medical Sciences. – To relieve symptoms, you can perform ASIT – specific immunotherapy.

Therapy should be carried out without exacerbation. You need to start it in the fall, you can perform it from the age of 5, the treatment period is from 3-5 years. But there are some peculiarities here: if the therapy helps, we continue, if not, the therapy needs to be changed – the doctor changes the drugs, they are selected individually.

The patient is injected with allergens, and during the autumn-winter period he becomes addicted, and in the spring he does not react at all to the allergens that bothered him earlier. There are different ways: under the tongue, tablets, nose drops, there are injections. But I can say that the injection method in certain cases can help better. Side effects may be small, but severe reactions are not even described, so ASIT is well tolerated. However, there are patients for whom this method also does not work well.”
