The first part of the 2023-2024 season turned out to be successful for FC Khimik from Dzerzhinsk. The only representative of the Nizhny Novgorod region in the Second League “B” showed an excellent result and became the best team in group No. 2. For several months, Khimik fought for the highest places in group No. 2 with serious competitors and won the championship ahead of schedule. Khimik’s main competitor was St. Petersburg’s Zenit-2, the backup squad for the Russian champion. In the meeting with Zenit-2, the black-greens suffered their only defeat.
The victory in the Second League “B” allowed Khimik to receive a promotion in class. “Khimik” will begin the spring stage of the championship in the “Silver” division of the Second League “A”, where it will fight with the strongest teams from all over Russia. Khimik’s opponents will be former participants in the Golden Division and winners of other groups of the Second League B. Avangard from Kursk and Ivanovo Tekstilshchik managed to retain their place in Silver.
Director of FC Khimik Andrey Kuvaev spoke about the tasks for the spring part of the 2023-2024 season.
“The management sets high goals for our club, we are not going to stop at silver. Just like last season, Khimik will continue to fight for first place in the group, only now in the A division,” said Andrey.
