Alexander Mitroshenkov urged to preserve the legacy of the couturier: “Unique costumes should not be destroyed.”

TV producer Alexander Mitroshenkov was one of those who communicated with fashion designer Vyacheslav Zaitsev for many years. A few days ago, a fashion show was held in Moscow, organized with the participation of Mitroshenkov as part of the MIFF, which was attended by Zaitsev. It turned out, unfortunately, the last appearance for the legendary designer. Alexander Viktorovich still cannot comprehend what happened, because he saw the maestro quite recently! The producer shared his memories of Vyacheslav Mikhailovich with MK.

– I still can’t believe that Vyacheslav Zaitsev is no more … Three days ago he was sitting next to me – we put him in a chair. I saw his eyes light up because when he watched a fashion show, he came alive. It was clear that it was difficult for him, that he felt uneasy, but the appearance of beautiful women, beautiful clothes, music brought him back to life. He seemed to come to his senses and saw the whole world around him in a completely realistic way,” says Mitroshenkov. – In general, it is difficult to overestimate the importance of Vyacheslav Zaitsev. He was the only designer who burst from the distant USSR into the artsy world fashion. Broke in completely young, perky. His ideas were based on the national traditions of Russia, they seemed so fresh and bright that many designers of that time, be it Pierre Cardin or Karl Lagerfeld, then turned to the ideas of Vyacheslav Zaitsev. And, of course, many of our first ladies and famous people dressed precisely at Vyacheslav Mikhailovich. He created a special style of business suit and dress, in which it was not a shame to appear at social events of the highest level.

– Did you often communicate with him?

– Yes, I talked with him a lot, this was due to the fact that the Russian Silhouette considered him one of the founders of Russian fashion, Tatyana Mikhalkova was friends with him. We tried in every way to give him some support. This concerned, for example, the holding of some evenings. And, of course, Vyacheslav Zaitsev was always on the jury of our competitions. Because he may not have had much to say, but when he spoke very precise and correct words to young designers, I’m sure this later had a positive effect on their future careers.

– And what will happen to Zaitsev’s legacy, in your opinion?

– Since I am engaged in television, I see how often after the death of a famous person there comes a moment when they begin to divide his property, all kinds of articles and stories appear about this. I would really like the legacy that Zaitsev has – his unique costumes, graphic works, to be preserved so that they are not destroyed. Tatyana Mikhalkova and I, I think, will open an exhibition of Vyacheslav Zaitsev’s costumes in some beautiful place, and this will be the best memory of him.

And I also believe that Vyacheslav Zaitsev deserves to have his Fashion House taken under the patronage of the Moscow government, so that it becomes the guarantor that will not only preserve the memory of him, his ideas, but also give young designers the opportunity to work under the brand of Vyacheslav Zaitsev .
