The Czech hockey player criticized his compatriots who continue to play in Russia

The very fact that some players from the Czech Republic play in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) irritates Knoth. “I have a clear opinion that I don’t want anything to do with this,” he emphasized.

Let us recall that on August 25, 2022, the Czech Hockey Federation announced that it would not invite players playing for Russian clubs to play for the national team.

Earlier, Czech defender Libor Sulak, who became a Avangard player in May, said that during the first year after the start of Russia’s special operation in Ukraine, he was threatened because of his work in our country. He even received calls from the Czech authorities on his phone, but he refused to talk and hung up. “Many have already resigned themselves,” Shulak explained. “Now almost no one calls me anymore. And when they call, I don’t talk to them. I just silently hang up the call and that’s it.” The athlete was not afraid of any threats and continues to cooperate with KHL clubs. On January 15, 2022, the Czech extended his contract with Admiral, and on May 1, 2023, the defender became a Avangard hockey player.

In February 2022, the International Hockey Federation suspended the national teams of Russia and Belarus from international tournaments. Against this background, many foreign players broke their contracts with KHL clubs and left our country.

It is curious that North American experts do not consider organizing it without the participation of our country’s national team in the tournament. The authoritative hockey publication Hockey News, following the proposed composition of the Canadian and American ice squads, also presented a prototype of the Russian team. The list contains the names of 23 domestic hockey players – 3 goalkeepers, 8 defenders and 12 forwards.
