The court sentenced ex-minister of housing and communal services of the Rostov region Mayer to 3.5 years in prison

Former Minister of Housing and Public Utilities of the Rostov Region Andrey Mayer, who is accused of abuse of power, was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison by the Kirovsky District Court of Rostov-on-Don. He will serve his sentence in a penal colony.
According to the state prosecution, Mayer abused his official powers in the improvement of two parks located on the territory of the Rostov region.
“Find Mayer guilty and, on the basis of the totality of the crime, sentence him to imprisonment for a period of three years and five months,” the judge said.
Mayer’s lawyer added that the defense would appeal. Mayer disagrees with the verdict.
