Phobos Weather Center warned Muscovites about the record snowfall on Sunday, March 12.
The amount of precipitation, according to meteorologists, can be 11-16 millimeters – this is almost half the monthly norm.
Phobos recalled that the record amount of precipitation on March 12 fell back in 1883, when 29.5 millimeters hit the rain gauges. Since then, according to the weather center, there have been no such record figures.
“The highest figures were recorded in 1968 – 6.9 millimeters, in 1998 – 13 millimeters, in 2006 – 12.3 millimeters,” Phobos employees said.
Also, residents of the capital were warned about the low atmospheric pressure that day – only 726 millimeters of mercury. Meanwhile, gusts of wind can reach storm values - up to 17 meters per second.
