The Lublin Court of Moscow replaced former Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Russia Marina Lukashevich with the remainder of her sentence, which she must serve in a colony, with correctional labor. This was reported in court on Friday.

In June last year, the Meshchansky Court of Moscow sentenced Lukashevich to 6.5 years in prison. The ex-head of the department of competitive procedures in the ministry, Mikhail Popov, was sentenced to 7.5 years in prison, businessman Nikolai Popov – to 6 years, and the ex-head of the ministerial department of state policy in the field of higher education, Artemy Rozhkov – to 5.5 years.

In 2016, Lukashevich, with the assistance of Mikhail Popov, who was the organizer of the criminal group, submitted falsified reports on the work performed to the Ministry of Education, the court found. Money for government contracts was transferred to the bank account of a company whose beneficiary was Mikhail Popov. After this, Lukashevich and businessman Nikolai Popov (Mikhail Popov’s brother) transferred them for cashing to the accounts of entrepreneurs with whom contracts for the provision of services were concluded. They cashed them and handed them over to Nikolai Popov, after which the money was distributed among the members of the criminal group.

Rozhkov ensured that the reports were filled out, creating the appearance of work, and attracted entrepreneurs.

The total damage from the actions of officials exceeded 50 million rubles.
