The court of the city of Grozny again postponed the hearing in the criminal case of 19-year-old Volgograd resident Nikita Zhuravel, who is accused of burning the Koran.

The hearing was postponed due to the non-appearance of the victims, who were supposed to be 13 imams of mosques in the Chechen capital. In addition, no witnesses appeared at the trial. The trial will resume on November 2.

On October 13, at the trial, Zhuravel partially admitted guilt for burning the holy book of Muslims at the Cathedral Mosque in Volgograd. According to the defendant, he had no intention of grossly violating public order. As Zhuravel noted, he did this on the instructions of the Ukrainian special services for 10 thousand rubles and did not know about the purpose of the video he made of the action.

The court extended the preventive measure in the form of arrest for six months. The Russian is accused of insulting the feelings of believers.

On May 19, footage of Nikita Zhuravel burning the Koran spread online.
