The condition of Amur leopard kittens rescued in Primorsky Krai has deteriorated sharply. Now experts are doing everything possible to save their lives, the press service of the Land of the Leopard National Park said.
Two one and a half month old kittens were found on the highway in the Khasansky district, not far from the borders of the national park. The animals were caught so that they would not die in the cold or under the wheels of cars. The press service also said that this is the first case of forced removal of such small leopards from the wild. Perhaps they strayed from their mother because of the high snow cover.
Animals are kept in MROO “Center “Tiger”. At first, their condition was assessed as satisfactory, but now it has become critical.
“The health of two cubs of the rarest large cat causes serious concerns among veterinarians,” the press service said.
Experts noted that the animals suddenly stopped eating, although they used to feel fine and played with each other. At the same time, specialists have to nurse such small leopards for the first time.
