Deputy Mayor of the Moscow Government Pyotr Biryukov said that specialists from the Municipal Services Complex have completed conservation work on the capital’s fountains ahead of winter.
According to the deputy mayor, conservation of the fountains includes a whole range of works, which includes draining the water from the system, cleaning the sculptures, bowls, equipment and washing the structure, after which the underwater lights and jet-forming elements are dismantled, and finally the plugs are installed.
“During the winter we will prepare the capital’s fountains for the new season, which traditionally starts in late April,” explained Pyotr Biryukov. “In particular, we will check and, if necessary, update pumping equipment, filters and jet-forming elements, lining of bowls and parapets, carry out preventive repairs of all communications and hydraulic diagnostics.”
Biryukov pointed out that fountains with complex engineering communications and decorative elements are protected during the winter using special structures. He noted that the dynamic light fountain in the park of the Tsaritsyno Museum-Reserve is the only one in the capital that is covered with an inflatable dome. According to the deputy mayor, floating fountains are completely dismantled, and dry ones are covered with special screens.
