The rescue service in Karelia, using an underwater robot, found a heavily damaged Mi-8 hull at the site of a helicopter crash. The head of the republic, Artur Parfenchikov, informed about this on his VKontakte page.

“At around 15:00, an underwater robot began working at the crash site. At a depth of 42 meters, it discovered a heavily damaged helicopter body,” he wrote.

At the moment, search work at the crash site continues. 95 people were involved in the operation, in particular 29 divers.

On February 4, the Mi-8 helicopter of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation stopped communicating during a training flight over the waters of Lake Onega in Karelia. There were three crew members on board. Some aircraft wreckage was found 11 km from the coast. The depth of the lake at the location of discovery ranges from 40 to 50 meters.
