Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Sergei Abramov was declared sane based on the results of an inpatient forensic psychiatric examination. From April to October 2023, he was under house arrest. In November, the investigation petitioned the court to order an inpatient forensic psychiatric examination for the scientist; the petition was granted. The examination took place in December 2023 at the Yaroslavl Regional Psychiatric Hospital, where the scientist arrived voluntarily. According to Sergei Abramov, the investigator handed him a copy of the expert report, which indicated that he was sane and did not require compulsory treatment.
“In addition, a psychological portrait of me was compiled, which includes the following characteristics: “friendly, empathetic, conformist, avoids conflicts.” I don’t understand how this relates to what I’m accused of,” said Sergei Abramov.
As the scientist said, he spent 12 days in the department that deals with forensic psychiatric examination. It was forbidden to leave the department. “The hospital staff was shocked; they are amazingly kind and merciful people,” said Sergei Abramov.
Now the scientist is awaiting the completion of the investigation and the transfer of the criminal case materials to him for review. He pleads not guilty and says he made no payments to any banned organization. According to the corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, someone else could have done this for him.
