Four-time biathlon world champion Dorothea Wierer will end her season early

Biathlete from Italy Dorothea Wierer said that Sunday’s mass start at the World Championships in Nove Mesto (Czech Republic) will be her last race this season.

“I will decide what to do next,” the official website of the Italian Winter Sports Federation quotes the biathlete. “I will draw a line and think whether it is advisable to continue or not.” The athlete complained of numerous ailments, in the absence of which the season “would have been different.”

The four-time world champion has days when “I want to stop,” and there are days when “I want to continue.” The athlete admitted that this year she realized how increasingly difficult it is to keep in shape.

Wierer is a three-time Olympic bronze medalist and two-time overall World Cup winner.

The titled Italian is now 33 years old, she has previously stated that she has no plans to participate in the home Olympic Games in 2026.
