The ban on inducing abortion in Mordovia was the first gloomy sign

Here, there is a ban on the sale of drugs for early medical abortions, and the withdrawal of this procedure from the compulsory health insurance system, and a ban on manipulations in private clinics.

Why was Mordovia chosen for the pilot project, which is in 78th place in terms of living standards among the subjects of the Federation? It’s quite logical and connected. The standard of living certainly affects the decline in the birth rate. Although not only him.

In June 2023, only 105 thousand new Russians were born in Russia, which is the lowest figure since 1991 and the collapse of the USSR. Even in the dashing 90s they gave birth more. But it’s not just about avoiding poverty.

A trial balloon is a punishment for “inducing abortion”. The question immediately arises: who should be punished and how?

How to detect? For example, a pregnant woman came to an appointment with a psychologist (this is now a mandatory option), crying that she wants to give birth to a third, but her husband is against it.

By the way, about “giving birth to a third” is not a figure of speech. According to studies, abortions in Russia are performed not by frivolous unmarried girls, but by women from 30 to 39 years old who are expecting a third baby.

There are many reasons: no money, no housing, the head of the family does not want to feed everyone, he has a loan, a mortgage, he does not know where he will be in a month – not like planning a family life for another 18 years.

The woman complains about her husband and his arguments, and in response, she is offered to write a statement to her husband that he “persuaded her to have an abortion.”

For what?

For a spouse to be fined from their general family budget? Great way out!

Or should a psychologist who has learned about an impending offense write a statement to law enforcement agencies?

The simplest thing: to hold accountable doctors who could not convince a woman to leave a child. Or looked askance at her. Or they wrote out a referral for an abortion when she asked, instead of lying down with bones, but not allowing it.

That is, instead of engaging in direct duties, gynecologists will also have to make excuses for their action or inaction. It is easier for them not to give such referrals at all than to wait for them to be punished later with a ruble or a reprimand. Who will be the last one here? Again, a woman. And it is not only necessary to say how the state cares and cherishes expectant mothers.

Yes, now in the Russian Federation they give maternity capital even for the first child, there are benefits and benefits for large families, but the statistics are becoming more and more depressing. So it’s not just about money.

But this simple idea does not reach the officials.

If they are not eager to give birth to the desired and planned ones, we will ensure that even those who do not want to give birth.

According to rough estimates (in fact, no one bothered with this), every year about 500 thousand children conceived in Russia are never born. “I wish they were all born all of a sudden,” – apparently, it came to someone’s bright head, which must somehow be accountable for demographic policy.

There is only one left. Persuade or force Russian women to give birth to these children.

By the way, according to official data, the number of abortions in our country is declining year by year. Including because the generation of “millennials” has grown up and entered the period of fertility, who loves themselves, their health and knows such smart words as “contraception” and “family planning” from childhood.

Unlike young people, officials are probably not aware of the “second demographic transition”, which affected absolutely all civilized countries of the first and even second world. Many children today are either rich people who are financially secure and know that they are able to give children all the best, including a good education, start-up capital and a safe world around.

Or citizens who simply like big families – this is also a kind of talent, so there are only a few such unique people. Or marginals, who do not care at all. But there are also few of them.

They still give birth a lot in countries with a critically low standard of living and medicine. Just where there was no second demographic transition. That’s “like it – don’t like it”. Out of 10-15 children, God forbid, three will live to adulthood, someone will not survive the infection and hunger, someone will be eaten by a crocodile, someone will die of AIDS, because they have not heard about condoms there.

The largest birth rate now, for example, is in the notorious Niger (6.59 children per woman). Next come our African partners Somalia (6.42), Chad (6.35) and Congo (6.21). In principle, Russia gives birth on average not too much and not too little – 1.4 children per woman. We are firm goodists among Europeans.

The trouble is that the decline of the Russian population for various reasons is catastrophic. Much faster than can be reproduced.

How will limiting abortions help here?

In the same Catholic Poland, even a categorical ban did not give anything. There, there are 1.38 children per woman. Less than in Russia. Although getting rid of the fetus in Poland is possible only in case of rape, incest and serious pathologies. And that is not always the case. And still, in April 2023, only 21,000 children were born in Poland. The lowest figure in the history of this country.

However, there are indeed few criminal abortions in Poland. But this is only because Germany and the Czech Republic are close. You can always take a ticket there and go to the procedure. It’s easier than getting on your nerves.

And Russia has Belarus at its side.

Then why is this all? All these endlessly implemented laws that will not really change or improve anything. Particularly impressive is the explanation to the law: “the ideological and psychological impact on citizens is imposing a system of values ​​alien to the Russian people.”

And that the guilty, it turns out, are those who form the future mother’s “fear of bearing and raising a child.”

Are you serious?

There is no promotion of abortion in the country anyway. I don’t see posters hanging on the main streets calling for the killing of unborn children. There are just a lot of other posters, including those glorifying large families. It’s just that for some reason it doesn’t work.

When will the officials finally turn on their brains. Take care of already born children! And we will be happy.
