Acting head of the Kherson region Vladimir Saldo said that the authorities expect to withdraw citizens from the 15-kilometer zone along the Dnieper within three days. After the evacuation is completed, passenger boats will stop running along the Dnieper.
“Maximum, probably, three days, and this work will be completed,” Vladimir Saldo said on the air of Rossiya 24 (quoted by TASS). According to him, people remain in a safe part of the Kherson region, and also leave for the Crimea, Krasnodar and Stavropol Territories, Rostov and Voronezh regions.
The evacuation of residents from the right bank of the Dnieper began on October 19. By October 28, the regional authorities announced that about 70,000 people had been taken from the right bank. October 31 evacuation zone expanded due to a possible impact on the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station. Vladimir Saldo declaredthat 70,000 residents are planned to be withdrawn from the 15-kilometer zone on the left bank of the Dnieper.
