The assassination attempt on Andrei Chibis revealed a health care problem in Apatity: there is no separate hospital

According to relatives, Bydanov was not registered with the PND, did not suffer from mental illness and did not hear voices. But his back had been hurting for a long time. He took painkillers and kept going to doctors. I wonder if this was the question he wanted to discuss with Governor Chibis the day before?

The head of the Murmansk region came to Apatity on business, and in the evening he talked with residents on a wide range of topics. Everyone could ask their own question, as the head of the region democratically suggested in a personal TG. So what interested 42-year-old Alexander Bydanov, who had been suffering from back pain for a long time? Maybe when they open a normal and full-fledged hospital?

In local closed TG chats, local residents are interested in where they actually took Chibis for the operation? After all, medicine in the region has long been so optimized that the nearest hospital is located twenty kilometers from Apatity – in Kirovsk.

This was discussed several years ago on a direct line with the president, when a 25-year-old resident of Apatity, dying of cancer, got through to Putin and complained that in their city of 50 thousand people, not only was there nowhere to be treated, there was nowhere even to die – for To do this, you need to go to the neighboring one. But there are vanishingly few specialists there either. Time has passed.

Daria Starikova was treated for osteochondrosis, but it turned out she had cancer, already in the fourth stage. Soon after a desperate call to the president, Daria died. But has this problem been resolved?

Local authorities then made excuses that hospitals were closing because there were no people. The population in Apatity has decreased by half over the past decades. And here, alas, there is a direct relationship: hospitals for empty settlements are very expensive to maintain, but if people are not treated, they will shrink even faster.

Another thing is interesting. Attacks on high-ranking officials at any level are not that common in Russia. Not like in Argentina, where also yesterday (apparently the spring aggravation is taking its toll) an unknown person with a machete tried to defeat the country’s president.

But that’s hot South America. And in Russia I can only remember two such high-profile cases. And the first one was in the same Kirovsk, neighboring Apatity, exactly fifteen years ago. In the spring of 2009, local businessman Ivan Ankushev did away with the head of the administration of his hometown and the head of the housing and communal services. He shot himself over two corpses. And, at first glance, nothing was foreshadowed either. I didn’t hear the voice in my head, I wasn’t registered. A decent and respectable businessman, 62 years old.

On March 25, having arrived at the city administration building, Ivan Ankushev discharged a TT pistol at the head of Kirovsk, 44-year-old Ilya Kelmanzon, and at the 57-year-old director of the municipal housing and communal services enterprise Sergei Maksimov. His childhood friend, by the way, grew up in the same yard, studied at the same school – with Kelmanzon’s father, as they say, they were family friends.

Maksimov died instantly. Kelmanzon reached the next office and fell there. It was a normal working day, the administration was full of people. The premises were not guarded in any way. The officials themselves also had no security. Actually, just like now with Governor Chibis.

From whom to protect something – from the people? I was in this building in Kirovsk. Ordinary, gray, unremarkable. A clone of his brothers throughout Russia. They said that Ivan Ankushev, who owned four stores, had a long-standing conflict with the administration. They didn’t allow him to do something there, but he didn’t agree with the prohibitions. Normal contradictions of this kind are usually resolved in the courts. But, apparently, not in Russia. Where you can sue for a long time and persistently, and the local authorities, who seem quite open in their TG channels, often cannot be reached by any civilized means.

Later, it was in Kirovsk that director Andrei Zvyagintsev filmed part of the nature of the scandalous “Leviathan”. About little people who no one needs. They are not seen or heard for the time being.

And then, backed up against the wall, they suddenly start a riot, irrational and, at first glance, completely groundless. But, most importantly, absolutely meaningless. As it turned out, at the meeting with Apatitch residents, Chibis really talked a lot about healthcare. This is what everyone was interested in. People explained to him that there were not enough doctors, he had to wait in line for hours, and it was imperative that the inpatient department be returned to the city. And he answered them that the hospital in neighboring Kirovsk was excellent and modernized. And in general, a whole “shuttle” has been launched to transport patients to it.

— The topic of the hospital and the surgical building, which has been abandoned for a very long time, has been discussed for many years. This is a populist topic – those who raise it always disrupt the emotional upsurge. But there is an objective reality: there will be no separate hospital in Apatity,” the governor replied.

So, it turns out, there was no point in this meeting with voters: what the townspeople really need cannot be done. In fact, the governor is simply an iconic figure who also likes to walk around without security, so the attack on him became possible and became known.

How much misunderstanding is there throughout the country? What are its reasons? And will it ever end if there are more and more unresolved and buried problems in the regions? And it’s not just about optimized hospitals or someone’s nightmare business.

It’s just that sooner or later any old ulcers break out with such seemingly inexplicable violence, direct violence.

What will change after this sad incident? I think Russian governors will be required to have bodyguards with them. This is the easiest and fastest way.
