The Arkhangelsk team became the winner of the Golden Puck hockey tournament

From November 15 to 20, the all-Russian final competition of young hockey players “Golden Puck” in the “3 * 3” format among teams of young men born in 2008-2009 was held in the Nizhny Novgorod region. Our region was represented by the Arkhangelsk team. This was reported by the Ministry of Sports of the Arkhangelsk Region.

The 3*3 hockey format is relatively young not only for domestic but also world sports. A significant difference from the “classic” version is the difference in the number of hockey players on the ice and the duration of the match. This all contributes to the fact that due to the increase in space on the field, the game becomes less contact. This, in turn, reduces injury rates. In addition, in the “3*3” format more pucks are scored, which increases the entertainment value.

It is worth noting that only this winter season, the All-Russian competition for young hockey players “Golden Puck” began to be held in the “3 * 3” format.

This year, 28 ice squads from different parts of our country, which were divided into four groups, reached the decisive stage of the competition. The winners of each of them advanced to the semi-finals. The rivals of the young northerners were their peers from the Moscow, Ulyanovsk, Moscow, Leningrad and Tomsk regions, the Republic of Mari El and the Trans-Baikal Territory.

The residents of Arkhangelsk felt the bitterness of defeat only at the start of the tournament, when in a bitter struggle they lost to Spartak from the Republic of Mari El - 2:3. Subsequently, Alexander Mikhailovich Zagursky’s team did not lose a single match. In the semi-finals they met with “Rat Wings” from the Nizhny Novgorod region. The game turned out to be very tense, and its outcome was decided by one puck thrown at the end of the match by northerner Mark Shchugarev - 1:0. In the final, our fellow countrymen crossed clubs with the Yaroslavich team from the Yaroslavl region. This fight also turned out to be very stubborn. One by one, then the other team took the lead. As a result, the final siren recorded a draw - 2:2. In the shootout, Mark Shchugarev again brought victory to his team - 3:2.

This victory forever inscribed the Arkhangelsk team in the history of the All-Russian competition for young hockey players “Golden Puck”, as the first winners in their age group.
