Regional summer biathlon competitions ended on September 29 at the Triumph ski-biathlon complex in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. More than 90 athletes competed in the cross-race and cross-sprint disciplines, the press service of the Ministry of Sports of the Sakhalin Region reported.
“A lot of people don’t feel comfortable running cross-country. Summer shooting competitions have their own characteristics. After all, in winter, a biathlete wears thicker clothing, which allows him to more confidently control the rifle and make more accurate shots,” said biathlete Igor Koptyaev from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.
Gold medals in both disciplines were won by athletes from Tomari Diana Cherepennikova and Gleb To, as well as students of the Olympic reserve winter sports sports school Polina Tumashevskaya, Polina Toropova, Matvey Kravtsunov and Vera Greco.
