Subsidiary of AFK Sistema acquires electric ship manufacturer Emperium

A subsidiary of AFK Sistema, Sitronics Group, has acquired more than 50% of the shares of the Russian company Emperium, which manufactures electric-powered ships. Alexei Katkov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sitronics Group, Managing Partner of AFK Sistema, told Vedomosti about this. Emperium co-owner Andrian Pravdin confirmed the deal, refusing to comment further. The amount of the deal and the exact size of the shareholding are not disclosed by the parties. According to a representative of the Sitronics Group, the deal will allow the company to develop its marine and electric charging business.
Emperium is the first Russian company to organize mass production of electric ships. Now the company produces six types of electric vessels, a Sitronics representative said: a high-speed Ecocruiser catamaran with a capacity of up to 120 people, Ecovolt 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 vessels for boat trips, excursions and passenger transportation, Ecobus and Cityvolt vessels – water buses. To date, only six ships have been built, he said. The company does not disclose the cost of one vessel.
