Storm in Primorye does not allow 17 children to be taken out of a desert island

17 participants of the last youth rally on Askold Island in Primorsky Krai have not been able to return to the mainland since August 5. They are being hampered by a storm, the regional ministry of civil defense and emergency situations on Monday, August 7th. The children are in sheltered warm houses “that can withstand stormy conditions”, they have water, medicines, a week’s supply of food for 50 people, a stationary kitchen and two generators. Fuel reserves will last for a week.
“The organizers of the camp ask parents not to panic, the situation is under control. On the island with children there are adults prepared for such situations, scientists and local historians, ”the message says.
Waves are predicted to be smaller as early as Tuesday. Approximately the vessel will approach the uninhabited Askold Island (located in Peter the Great Bay, has no regular transport links with the mainland) at 11:00 (4:00 Moscow time), the ministry assured.
